Ph.D. Student Xavier Llamas Comellas

Biography

I was born in 1989 in Berga (Barcelona). I received a M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering in Spring 2012 from ETSEIB, school belonging to Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). I spent my last study year (2011-12) as exchange student at Linköping University, where I wrote my Master's Thesis at the Division of Vehicular Systems. Since November 2012 I am working as a Ph.D. student at the division.

Research

My research interests are modeling, control and simulation of vehicle powertrains. Furthermore, I have a special interest in thermodynamics, applied to turbomachinery and combustion engine modeling. Nowadays, I am involved in a European research project about marine low speed two-stroke diesel engines together with an industrial partner. The main goal of the project is to use modeling and control of EGR flow to reduce harmful emissions.
