Research

Parinaz's current research interest is in sensor fusion and localisation/navigation. IMU sensory data, GPS measurements, and radio measurements are the main data being fused in my applications.

Projects

Previous project

TRAX is an Initial Training Networks (ITN) research project sponsored by the EU under the Marie Curie actions. Large-scale data analysis and its own complexities on top of mathematical models and object dynamics are being investigated at the project. Three different types of complexities are identified: complexities due to huge amounts of data, complex object dynamics and measurement models, as well as complexities associated with large amounts of objects.

IMU Dataset for Motion and Device Mode Classification

Classification of motion mode (walking, running, standing still) and device mode (hand-held, in pocket, in backpack) is an enabler in personal navigation systems for the purpose of saving energy and design parameter settings and also for its own sake. Our main contribution is to publish one of the most extensive datasets for this problem, including inertial data from eight users, each one performing three pre-defined trajectories carrying four smartphones and seventeen inertial measurement units on the body. All kind of metadata is available such as the ground truth of all modes and position.

The dataset is available HERE
